ABSTRACT

The discovery of one-dimensional carbon nanotubes in 1991 and

two-dimensional graphene in 2004 has opened up exciting pathways

that could potentially revolutionize or bring about transformative

advancements in many areas of science and engineering in the

next several decades. This chapter provides a brief overview of

the physics of such carbon-based nanomaterials and subsequently

examines and discusses their applicability in the field of nanoelec-

tronics.
