ABSTRACT
Aluminum (Al) as an engineering material ranks only behind ferrous alloys (in tonnage used) while growth in production continues to increase. e global tonnage in 2007 was 60 million tons, of which ∼65% was provided by primary production and ∼35% million by recycled scrap (aluminium.org).
