ABSTRACT

This chapter explores several easy-to-use tools that can be usefully applied in Project Management, particularly in connection with case studies of complex projects. Most projects are part of a larger program that may be part of a larger enterprise that may be a subset of an overarching Case Study. It’s important to understand that qualitative tools can be as useful than some quantitative tools where the technical details of the quantification become “rabbit holes” obfuscating the overall objectives in providing good tools. The Enneagram tool is an effective guide for having productive discussions that address all aspects of virtually any problem. A potential positive result of applying the Enneagram is the ability to rapidly build strong trust among the team members and their leadership/management. The Big Dig’s mission was to vastly improve traffic flow to, fro, and through downtown Boston while beautifying and revitalizing the immediate surrounding area.
