ABSTRACT
Glutathione conjugation is the formation of a thioether link between glutathione and a compound with an electrophilic centre. This process is usually associated with detoxication and excretion but is also involved in the biosynthesis of endogenous compounds, for instance the chemical mediator, leukotriene C4.
