ABSTRACT

For manufacturing the thin-walled cylindrical shells in different applications of tanks and silos, the rolled plates with favorite radius are connected together by welding procedure. During this procedure, geometric imperfections are generated by under shrinkage of welding. The one selected for the subject of this research is the circumferential mode. Generally, this type of imperfection is not axisymmetric and therefore an unsymmetrical mode in half length (with 180◦ ) is investigated for comparison with 360◦ full length imperfection. Each studied specimen is modeled experimentally and numerically. In FE nonlinear analyses we have used the ABAQUS/CAE Code.
