ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The hygienic evaluation of indoor environments should be based on a proper strategy followed by adequate assessment of biohazards. This paper describes a strategy applied for elaboration of hygienic standards for biological aerosols, discusses limitations of the available recommendations as well as commenting on decision making and data interpretation issues. The health-and environmentally-based approach applied for elaboration of threshold/reference limit values for bioagents are presented and discussed. Special emphasis is placed on the role of such standards in indoor air protection and the existing worldwide and Polish standards for bioaerosols are also thoroughly characterized in the paper.
