reactions to trace metals found in stainless steel stents, suggesting a role for inert stents in patients with established metal allergies. In this patient subgroup an inert metal stent would be expected to show lower levels of inflammation and therefore restenosis. Table 3.2 lists stainless steel stents with a specific surface treatment, with the aim of greater vasculo-compatibility.
