Electrokinetic and Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Studies of Thermally Sensitive Polymer Colloids
I. INTRODUCTION A. General Introduction In this chapter an overview of thermally sensitive water-swellable polymer colloids will be given with particular emphasis on structure-property relationships. Consideration will be given to their use (current and future) in biomedical applications. It will be shown that complementary structural information on polymer colloids can be obtained using a combination of electrokinetic and small-angle scattering techniques. The value in understanding the structure of these polymer colloids lies in the opportunity to engineer the particles to suit specific applications (e.g., controlled release of drug molecules).
