ABSTRACT

The efficacy of corticosteroids and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) has been assessed in a total of 469 patients with acute relapses of multiple sclerosis (MS) by means of randomized, double-blind, controlled studies with a clinical measure as primary outcome (Table 26.1).1-7 These studies comprise four placebocontrolled trials,1-3,7 and three further trials that evaluated the relative efficacy of two different compounds or routes of administration.
