ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will discuss the history and current status of naked pDNA delivery of a therapeutic protein. The related topic of pDNA vaccines will not be covered in this chapter and the reader is referred to several recent comprehensive reviews in this area (Lai and Bennett, 1998; Donnelly et al., 1997; Horton et al., 1999a). This chapter will focus on the technology of therapeutic protein delivery by injection of naked pDNA into muscle or other organs in a variety of different species.
