ABSTRACT

This paper addresses briefly the use of 3D images for generating a geometric and visual 3D model of a blast site and shows how to use this data for designing and optimising surface blasts. It is also shown how the fracture system of a rock mass is measured from 3D images. These data are used to characterise the rock mass with respect to fracture sets, fracture orientations, fracture spacing, and in situ block size distribution.
