ABSTRACT
Food irradiation is the process of exposing food, either prepackaged or in bulk, to controlled levels of certain types of ionizing radiation to increase storage life of food, reduce postharvest food losses, and inactivate specific food-borne pathogenic organisms. Food irradiation is one of the most thoroughly and intensively investigated methods of food preservation.
