ABSTRACT

Ask researchers or scientists who have joined the scientific arena in the last 10 years whether they are aware ofmathematical models and, undoubtedly, most will say they have used them at some point in their work. Mathematical models have become a very useful tool for all branches of science and, in some areas, their use has been recognized by nonscientists. For example, computer models can be used to control traffic flow, determine the likelihood of earthquakes, or forecast future weather patterns.
