ABSTRACT

The growth of the industrial societies in many parts of the world has resulted in fast urbanization with a highly consuming, resources-depleting lifestyle. The backbone of sustaining this massive growth is the continuous streaming of energy that has been drastically increasing, as power demands have been increasing since the industrial revolution. Since most of the energy is basically produced by conventional resources which are non-renewable and finite, this has led to many environmental and health dangers. Hence, the increasing level of anthropogenic carbon emissions and the resulting degradation of the environment that we witness today is a result of many unsustainable practices that were originated to fulfill the needs of fast urbanization and excessively enhanced lifestyles.
