ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Considering temperature-dependent viscosity, turbulent flow and heat transfer in the triangular helical ducts were simulated. Based on the simulation results, the variations of the mean frictional factor (fm) of the three walls and the mean Nusselt number (Num) of the inner heated wall at cross section for the temperature-dependent viscosity fluid were obtained, and the effects of the curvature ratio (κ) on the whole frictional factor (f ) and the whole Nusselt number (Nu) were analyzed. The results show that the development of fm and Num with axial distance is divided into the early developing stage, the middle developing stage and the later developing stage. As Re increasing, f decreases and Nu increases obviously. For a given Re, Nu and f are all increased with the increase of κ.
