Express measurement of optical material refractive index with using laser beam profiler

The investigated sample was placed in a vertical position on a precision rotary table which provide changing the incident angle α with accuracy 0.25 degrees. Coordinates of the laser beam spot center was determined by a laser beam profiler NewPort LBP-4-USB with accuracy 8 microns. Shift of laser beam caused by refraction in the sample was calculated from new position of spot center for every new incidence angle.
