ABSTRACT

Naturally, the tugs used as part of the offloading system are useful during offloading operations, but are not considered in the simulations undertaken in this paper.

It may be conjectured that the tandem offloading operation using only a hawser is not adequate for maintaining the position of vessels in the offloading system effectively. Thus, there is a need to design an appropriate mooring system for the shuttle tanker, to enhance its stability and safety. In this paper, two configurations of typical mooring systems are considered for the study of the dynamics of the tanker, excluding the actually complex mooring system together with the effects of the undersea pipes from the FPSO.
