Saad-Eldeen et al. (2012d, 2013, 2014) conducted extensive nonlinear finite element analyses for corroded box girders with real, nonuniformly distributed and average corrosion. A new stress-strain relationship has been developed, taking into account the residual stresses and the corrosion degradation effect on the mechanical properties. The comparison showed a good agreement with the experimental results and supported the choice of the newly developed stress-strain relationships that may be used to analyse corroded structures.
