ABSTRACT
At present, numerous colleges in China have set up English teaching majors and courses to improve students’ communication ability and professional competence in English and lay the foundation for more international communication, academic visiting and advanced study, etc. As early as in 2001, the Ministry of Education in China pointed out that conditions should be created for teaching common required and professional courses using English or other foreign languages in undergraduate education, according to the requirement that education should be oriented toward modernization, facing the world and the future.
