ABSTRACT

KIDLINK is a global dialogue project for children aged 10 to 15, their teachers, parents, and other adults involved in education. Class participation begins at the fifth grade level. More than 90,000 children from 105 countries in all continents have participated since 1990, when the project was launched. KIDLINK is run by the KIDLINK Society, a nonprofit organisation with headquarters in Norway. Most of the dialogue is based on electronic mail, but other means of communication (including the traditional post) and conferencing are also being used. KIDLINK runs a Web-site and a private IRC system, which will be explained below.
