ABSTRACT

The world of the early twenty-first century is being experienced by many as a period of massive change and upheaval brought about by increasing and parallel advances in technology, science and global communications. Thus the topic of change is high on most organizational agendas. But, as shown in Chapter 3, far too many organizations and management theorists are still influenced by the old scientific paradigm. As a result they have a tendency to view change from a perspective that emerged centuries ago. It is a view and a consequent way of thinking that does not reflect modern realities. It is a perspective which, in my view, hinders the development of organizations more attuned to the times.
