ABSTRACT

Gradually, the ideas of the German historical school made their way into the world beyond. In France, P. G. Frédéric Le Play pioneered historical studies of family structures, social geography and economic development. Historicists in other countries included Emile de Laveleye in Belgium and Achille Loria in Italy. But it was in the British Isles that historicist ideas were to have a more significant impact.
