ABSTRACT
Over the last couple of decennia a tremendous amount of research has been reported that challenges various aspects of the standard model of rational choice where rationality is defined as the maximization of individual utility. Over and over again it is documented that people are willing to act in other-regarding ways or to cooperate in situations where the standard model of rational choice would predict non-cooperative outcomes.
