ABSTRACT

Most experts agree that the critical sense is the axis around which media education should turn, but the findings of neuroscience in recent decades on the functioning of the human mind urge us to review the praxis of this criticism, expanding its meaning and scope. It is imperative to go beyond critical thinking to reach a critical attitude. It is necessary to add to the criticism of information that of relationships and entertainment. It is also essential to include among the objectives of criticism both the messages and the minds that interact with them. Critical consciousness needs to be reached through the unconscious.
