ABSTRACT

A wrongful conviction is the worst possible outcome of a criminal investigative failure. Not only is an innocent person incarcerated for a crime he or she did not commit, but the guilty party remains undetected and at liberty, an ever present risk to the community. Developments in DNA testing have resulted in the discovery of many such cases, some more egregious and irresponsible than others, and various organizations, including the Innocence Project and Centurion Ministries, have been formed to assist the convicted innocent.
