ABSTRACT

Despite the central responsibility for professional standards mentioned above, WAPOL maintain a “whole of organisation” approach to ethics and behaviour, providing a Code of Conduct, complemented by a document describing the core values of the organisation and their relevance to members. e Code of Conduct, last revised April 2008 (Western Australian Police, 2008), outlines the values, legislative requirements, reporting requirements, and general standards of conduct expected of all members including volunteers, contractors, and subcontractors. e Code of Conduct also includes information on the various options for reporting unprofessional conduct and the support available. e code details a number of relevant areas in relation

to expected standards of conduct, such as associations, secondary employment, and drugs and alcohol, among others.
