ABSTRACT
Law enforcement services the entirety of every community in this nation. This includes every possible variation of race, gender, and sexual preference. The profession has clung to the heterosexual white male ethos since the first professional policing organization was formed. Chapter 4 mentions August Vollmer’s effort to promote an agenda of diversification, but the rapid technological advancements for policing during his era pushed the initiative aside.
