Basics ■ Pharmacokinetics is concerned with the time course and disposition of
drugs in the body (‘the body’s effect on drugs’). ■ Drugs are intended to act on target organs but usually have to be given
systemically. ■ Targeted organ delivery methods include tissue-specific ‘activa-
tion’ (e.g. metabolism of the prodrug levodopa to DA in neurons) and implanted drug-coated devices.
