ABSTRACT

This chapter provides guidance for – and suggestions about – planning for Positive Pedagogy for sport coaching (PPed) coaching. One of the key aspects in season planning is the identification of core themes that will run the length of the season. In line with the holistic philosophical foundation of PPed, it is important that the coach identifies how different learning domains and/or dimensions are intertwined and interact, then account for this in planning. Good season and learning block planning facilitates good session planning. Usually, session planning starts with an identification of the context in which the learning is taking place, such as where in the learning block the session is positioned, and pragmatic issues related to available resources, such as field space and number of players. When using PPed, it is important for the coach to plan opportunities for players to reflect on their learning and/or performance.
