ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to analyze and fuse the various philosophical conceptions of the nature of spirit and soul, as they relate to monotheism, human existence, and immortality. It draws from traditional African societies in which the spirit-soul is seen as a fundamental and organizing force of social and cultural reality and accounts for cosmological, ontological, epistemological and axiological interventions that illustrate notions of oneness, harmony and unity.
