ABSTRACT
An overview of the current state of climate modeling research is first presented, with emphasis on the major characteristics of the climate system which are demonstrated by recent results. A discussion of the outstanding problems raised by this research is then undertaken in the form of six questions concerning model intercomparison, resolution, the oceans, predictability, simplified models, and local climates.
