ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a more comprehensive approach to the subject, without dwelling any further on the significant amount of work that has already been produced on specific aspects of it. Despite the incalculable importance of transboundary resources in the border area between Mexico and the United States, as well as the vast complexity of the matter, one may safely assert that the issue has not yet become central in the political agenda of the bilateral relations between the two countries. The chapter attempts to indicate some of the resources in order to expand the scope of identification, which has so far been limited to conventional water resources and pollution. The occurrence of submarine oil and gas deposits in the different regions of the world, many of which are located in transboundary areas, has been the subject of initial identification.
