ABSTRACT
This concluding chapter highlights key lessons learned from the cases. The chapter elaborates on the “What, how, and so what?” by presenting some of the benefits of multifunctional land uses in Africa. We discuss the processes that most likely are needed to bring about change. We also present a research outlook, trying to place multifunctional land uses within key policy contexts for the next two decades and beyond. The chapter ends with an attempt to answer the question “What else do we need to know?” with a take on the role of science in promoting sustainable land-use practices and food security.
