ABSTRACT
Cotton, Gossypium spp., is a plant of ancient origin, which has evolved and been domesticated millions of years ago. This chapter deals with origin, evolutions, and domestication of cotton. It discusses research advances on the origin, evolution, and domestication of cotton based on phylogeny, cytology, and molecular levels. Sufficient research inputs have been directed on these important aspects.
