ABSTRACT

Eating disorders (EDs) are amongst the most complex and challenging conditions to treat. In this chapter three case examples are presented from the viewpoint of the therapist providing individual, group and inpatient schema therapy for eating disorders, respectively. Case examples are used to illustrate how to cope with potential problems in treatment. The potential obstacles and factors that impact treatment, together with solutions to overcome obstacles in schema therapy (ST) for EDs are presented. The implications for overcoming obstacles and the learning points drawn from the case examples are discussed, and may be helpful for therapists working with ED populations in various treatment settings.
