ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the use of rights-based advocacy and human rights approaches to support policy or program planning. In this chapter, the concern is with the different rights-based approaches (RBAs) that can be used in real-world processes of policy development and/or program planning and delivery. This chapter includes a focus on the links between human rights and health; health equity and the health system; a variety of rights-based approaches to health, morals, ethics, and human rights; and the individual choices that we make about the following products: chocolate, diamonds, and clothing.
