ABSTRACT
The laws of nature may be immutable, but our perception of them changes. People have to be really cautious as they discuss total feasibility in the context of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI). The principal conclusion of the study team was that certain emerging technologies indeed do offer people the possibility that an effective defense system might be developed. The good news about the mid-course phase is that it is much longer than the boost phase: almost twenty minutes. The bad news is that it has been very difficult for people to handle this discrimination problem. The goal of the research phase was to determine and to demonstrate the technical feasibility of an antiballistic missile defense system. Battle management has taken a severe rap in the technical community.
