ABSTRACT

The World Order Models Project (WOMP) is a self-conscious part of larger, nonviolent social change processes that will lead toward a planetary social change movement. WOMP grew out of an attempt by the Institute for World Order to implement a nonviolent but drastic change in the world political system. WOMP came into being against a background dominated by the persistent failure of world legal, economic and political mechanisms to lessen the incidence and scale of international violence, poverty, and racial injustice. The WOMP participants tried to shape a radically different perspective on international affairs. The world order perspective is all conditioned by its orientation to an explicit set of values. The formation of such a self concept is probably an indispensible part of the movement to a planetary social system capable of satisfying the basic justice and order needs of humankind.
