ABSTRACT
This chapter considers into the livestock business to properly analyze all the facts before they start. The land is going to be farmed and livestock is going to be produced in this country to provide our people with food. An important element in the future of animal agriculture is the introduction of new personnel in the form of young farmers. Without outside help, young people have great difficulty in entering farming as a profession. Being a livestock producer means being a part of the largest commercial industry in the world and providing mankind with vital services at modest prices. The adoption of new technology is lower in the livestock business than in industries where the driving force is strictly profit. This has reduced our competitive advantage, since speed of adoption of new technology is the key to being competitive in any business. Most people who start in the livestock business will experience some major problems and hardships.
