ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the activities associated with an EDUNET project for sharing computer-based exercises among law schools during the first year of a two-year experiment supported in part by the EXXON Education Foundation. These activities occurred during the first year of a two-year effort to collect data and to evaluate the feasibility of sharing computer-based resources within a single discipline among different institutions over an electronic communications network. Some of the network and University of Minnesota computer costs were supported by the grant from EXXON and a grant from the EDUCOM Planning Council. The University of Minnesota, William Mitchell College of Law, and Rutgers University used a significantly greater amount of computer time than any of the other schools. Most professors kept a supply of the evaluation forms near the computer terminal so students could complete the form immediately after finishing the exercise.
