ABSTRACT

Education-for-publishing programs are available at colleges and universities throughout the United States. What follows is a listing of some of the best-known courses. Evening sessions conducted each spring and fall with a curriculum based on the guidelines developed by the Association of American Publishers Education for Publishing Committee. The Publishing Studies Program provides English undergraduate majors with a concentration in book publishing. Students must take thirty-nine credits in publishing and literature and three credits in history. The Oscar Dystel Fellowship in Book Publishing is a graduate program leading to a master's degree in book publishing. It combines courses selected from the many schools within New York University with a tutorial led by participating publishing executives. Designed especially for those employed in the publishing industry, the library is expected to become the authoritative source of publishing materials in the field.
