ABSTRACT

In the first book of Yehuda Amichai's Akhshav uwyamim haaherim, there are two poems which are titled quite differently from all the others: the first one is called "Yehuda Halevi", and the following one "Ibn Gabirol". This chato study some aspects of the early poetry of Amichai with reference to medieval poetry and poets in general, and to these two poems in particular. The absolute tone of optimism regarding Halevi as a messenger of renewal, of renaissance, somehow becomes weaker when confronting the poetic text with the external historical and traditional contexts.
