The contents included articles on 'Business Personnel on the International Scene', and an expatriate in Japan, as well as on discussion of the 'Trends towards Internationalisation in Japan'. The closely related subjects of 'internationalists' and 'internationalisation' are a constant topic of conversation in Japan, and to most Japanese those two terms have very specific meanings. Non-Japanese views tend to reflect what is seen as the rather gradual pace of internationalisation. The bad side of Japanese management Identified by The Economist was in the managerial or white collar office environment. According to The Economist, Japanese offices 'tend to look and to be a bit of a shambles'. 'Loyalty is prized more than stardom, long hours rather than hard work. Internationalisation was prominent among them, although there was more stress on the internationalisation of business per se than on the internationalisation of management.
