ABSTRACT

In the periodical press in 1959 the authors of the book published an article "On the Question of the Character of Soviet Military Science, Its Subject and Content." In this article fundamental problems of Soviet military science were touched upon such as: the determination of the subject of military science; the character of the laws of military science; content and classification of military science; the connection of military science with other areas of knowledge; and other problems. The high level of development of the productive forces of the Soviet Union, its economy, and rapid military technical progress immeasurably increased the defensive might of our country. The basic positions of Soviet military doctrine were formulated by N. S. Khrushchev at the Fourth Session of the Supreme Soviet in 1960. The Soviet Armed Forces—the direct expression of the military might of our state—received in their armaments thermonuclear weapons, rockets of all radiuses of action and other new combat equipment.
