ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that how, in the particular context of Vietnam, the joint ventures build their organizational effectiveness from their ability to acquire knowledge and what are the antecedents of this ability. It presents a very complete one-dimensional scale, bringing together 12 items, in order to measure the organizational effectiveness of international joint ventures (IJV). With the globalization, companies are increasingly more developing abroad by relying on local partners, forming IJV. Vietnam is a country with the double peculiarity of being an emerging economy while also in transition toward a liberal economic system. In Vietnam, the transition process is developing with specific endogenous elements, different from Eastern European countries where the transition followed the fall of the communist regimes. The expected result of learning is a learned content, a newly created or acquired knowledge, disseminated within the organization whose available knowledge stock is improved as well.
