ABSTRACT
The introduction gives us an overview of Disability Studies and its intersectionality with Translation Studies, without ever losing sight of the Indian context. It begins by exploring the space that disability has in our lives and how disability is usually read, which leads us to speak of the politics of disability and of Disability Studies. This field is approached from the point of view of Literary Studies, the aesthetics of representation of disability. The introduction then examines how Translation Studies has approached Disability and the role it can play and the theoretical and practical possibilities. Disability Studies and Translation Studies are both spaces for activism as well as scholarly analysis.
The introduction then gives a reading of the various chapters and the approaches different translators bring to the act of translating Disability Texts, speaking of India.
