ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book discusses nordic societies also appear to have relatively healthy lifestyles, with sport and leisure resources that are socially inclusive, schools that include diverse types of physical education and activity in curricula, and public spaces that empower and engage their citizens. It highlights a number of features that distinguish the Finnish sport system from the other Nordic countries. The book also highlights there are variations between Nordic nations in their sports policies, philosophies, and practices, notably in ways that can be illustrated by the identities of elite athletes in football and other sports. It examines in the case of urban parks, as in schools or sports stadiums, public spaces will have certain codes or rules in place which serve to restrict or prohibit particular types of behaviour within the settings.
