ABSTRACT

Electric vehicles (EV) are the future of transportation, they have lots of advantages compared to their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts. Their popularity is also widely spreading across the motorsport community with different competitions already being held and more coming in the future. This poses a challenge for engineers to design efficient EVs with the help of simulation software. A new reverse engineered powertrain method is discussed in this paper to design a model which calculates the range of an EV. This model is focused towards the EVs that are meant for motorsport racing. The velocity and change of slope over the course of a lap is used to simulate the range. This ensures accurate range for the vehicle on a particular track that is used for reference.
