ABSTRACT

Metal spinning is one of the ancient metal forming processes. Today, it has gained popularity due to its immense advantages over other metal forming processes. There are several complexities associated with the spin forming process. Different metal requires different forces and different procedures to generate the desired shape of the product. The uniformity in the thickness is also an important aspect to consider in manufacturing with the spinning process. The present work aims to perform the FE simulation of the metal spinning process using explicit dynamics solver LS-DYNA. To study the metal spin forming process resultant force and stress obtained through FE simulation are used as response variables.
