ABSTRACT

The present work addresses improvement in mechanical strength of knob of molded case circuit breaker (MCCB). In MCCB, the operation like on, off, trip and reset are performed using mechanism. The purpose of deploying mechanism is to transfer the force to the next link in order to operate on, off/reset and trip. MCCB is operated on the basis of four-bar linkage mechanism. Motorized mechanism is an external accessory used to operate MCCB. It is directly mounted on MCCB. Comparing the standalone working of MCCB with the Combination (i.e. Motorized mechanism with MCCB), Total no. of operations in combination compared to stand alone MCCB is very less. The proposed work emphasizes on the improvement of the mechanical strength of the motorized mechanism and molded case circuit breaker.
